Don-El is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He is Superman and Supergirl's great-grandfather and the grandfather of Jor-El and Zor-El. He is the former head of the Kryptonian Council.

Don-El is the father of Ter-El. He was a member of the Kandorian Police Force in the city of Kandor when it was shrunken.

He was still alive when the city was enlarged on the planet Rokyn.

Krypton[]

Val-El is a supporting character in the TV series Krypton, portrayed by Ian McElhinney as Superman's great-great-grandfather and Jor-El's grandfather. Val-El, was sentenced to death for constructing the Fortress of Solitude from outside threats in the universe.[1][2]

  • Don-El name is a derivation of Donner, the surname of Superman director, Richard Donner.
