Max Mencken is a gossip columnist for the Daily Planet. He was romantically interested in Lois Lane.

Behind the ScenesEdit

He was the villain in the original It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman Broadway musical, played by Jack Cassidy. Kenneth Mars filled the role for a 1975 TV version (with the character's songs cut) and Patrick Cassidy (Jack Cassidy's son) played Max in the 2010 Dallas stage production.

He also appeared in the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman episode "Requiem for a Superhero."
