When It Rains, God Is Crying is a two-part miniseries published under the "Lois Lane" title in 1986. Despite its publication date just weeks after John Byrne's reboot of Superman in The Man of Steel, the events take place in pre-Crisis continuity.

The story follows Lois Lane covering a story about child abduction, and does not feature Superman at all. Clark Kent appears in a minor role, with appearances also by Bill Henderson, Lucy Lane, Perry White and others.
