Tim Burton (born August 25, 1958) is an American animator and film director. He was chosen to direct the aborted Superman film Superman Lives in the 1990s after directing Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). He also produced concept art for characters like Brainiac.
Years later, he agreed to appear in the documentary The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened? to share his experience of working on the project.
Burton's best known films also include Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (1985), Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), Mars Attacks! (1996), Planet of the Apes (2001), Big Fish (2003), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Dark Shadows (2012), and Frankenweenie (2012).
