Production details

  • This episode included parodies of I Love Lucy, James Bond movies, and Dragnet.
  • During the Dragnet parody, Jimmy Olsen's cop character accuses Superman of being too busy saving the Hoover Dam to attend his kid's baseball game. This may be a reference to Superman's feats in Superman: The Movie.
  • Coincidentally, Teri Hatcher later starred in the Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies.
  • The title of this episode is a reference to the lyrics of "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" by Jim Croce.
  • Genie Francis and Jonathan Frakes are married in real life.
  • Superman explains in this episode that anything contained within an aura that extends a few millimeters beyond his skin is indestructible.
  • Among the items in the lake collection are the arms of the Venus de Milo (originally owned by Lex Luthor as seen in "Foundling") and the Batmobile from the films "Batman" and "Batman Returns" also produced by Warner Bros.
