Classification Kryptonian(Genetically engineered)
Abilities Strength, speed, resurrection

Doomsday is a rampaging, seemingly mindless, murdering monster who killed Superman. He is the result of Kryptonian genetic engineering gone awry. In "The Death of Superman" comic storyline in which he first appeared, Doomsday mysteriously bashed his way out of a metallic holding cell miles underground, dug his way up, and began senselessly killing and destroying everything he saw. His motives were initially unknown, but his nature was obvious; He was incredibly powerful, merciless, and seemingly unstoppable. He easily defeated the justice league before confronting Superman.

Doomsday is the only one in main comics continuity to ever kill Superman; and he did so simply by beating the man of steel to death. Doomsday was killed in the battle, as well, but later healed himself and returned to life, stronger than before. Superman has encountered him on numerous occasions since.

In the animated universe, Doomsday was a clone, made on Earth; he battled Superman, but never successfully killed him. Also, in All Star Superman, Jimmy Olsen injected himself with Doomsday Serum, temporarily transforming himself into Doomsday to stop Superman.

In Smallville, we meet Doomsday's human form, Davis Bloome, for the first time. He is a Metropolis paramedic who frequently experiences blackouts, during which he transforms into Doomsday. This Doomsday was created by General Zod and Faora. He was a combination of Kryptonian Monsters only found on Krypton.

Powers

Doomsday Charges

Doomsday's unstoppable rampage.

Doomsday has Invulnerability probably greater than that of a normal Kryptonian; as well as Super Strength, Super Speed, and incredible leaping ability.

He also has numerous sharp bony protrusions, which can pierce Kryptonian skin. In Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey, he was shown to be able to shoot these bones at a target, and then reel them back in via some sort of tendon. He can also heal great wounds very quickly.

One of his signature abilities is his regeneration. When he is killed, he comes back to life, resistant to whatever killed him.

Although Doomsday may be a biological Kryptonian, his powers do not seem to stem from the Photonucleic Effect-- that is, they aren't induced by exposure to the yellow sun. His incredible strength and resilience seems to have been "evolved", from Doomsday dying so many times and regenerating.

Super strength - Dooomsday's muscular density is extremely high. Doomsday's physical output and strength astronomically exceeds that of humans and is significantly stronger than Kryptonians. The exact magnitude and exertion that he is capable of remains undefined and unclear, however he can most likely pick up multiple-mega-tons. Like Superman, he can achieve feats such as super-leaping which comes from his enhanced strength, though he is incapable of flight. After being bestowed with certain gifts his strength grew to a crazy, virtually unparalleled degree.

Super speed - Despite his large size, Doomsday can move, react and respond at superhuman speeds that cannot be followed, percieved or detected by the human eye. Eventually, after he was bestowed with certain gifts is speed grew so high, that he could likely transverse around the solar system in seconds.

Kryptonian sense - Doomsday has the ability to sense anyone kryptonian.

Invulnerability - Doomsday, like Superman, possesses a very high durability capacity, which can only be penetrated by other strong forces, certain radiation exposure can harm him. Military weaponry like bombs, missiles, grenades, rockets and laser beams cannot harm Doomsday.

Evolving/Metamorphosis - As he ages, he evolves and matures physically. He started as genetic matter and later evolved into a large spiked-creature.

Regeneration - Generally, Doomsday can sustain and maintain himself while battling, but he can still take damage and be harmed while fighting against other Kryptonians. Doomsday can recover and heal himself from any physical injury at a rapid pace; this ability is linked and connected with his reactive adaptation.

Reactive Adaptation/Healing Factor – Doomsday develops and adapts an immunity to any attack that harms him; a key component of this ability is that he cannot die the same way twice. To a certain point, doomsday is even almost impervious to blunt force trauma of a pinch from an opponett lie, superman, seeing as he has been killed by superman from his fists. However, doomsday, can be injured by powerful enough blows, but cannot be killed by normal means. Theoretically, based on the knowledge of doomsday, he can be harmed to a certain degree by something he died from before, but cannot be killed by it again.

Ability to resurrect himself after death - Doomsday can resurrect himself after death though after encountering Imperiex he needed to be cloned to be brought back to life. I is unkown if he could of regenerated from the damage dealt to him by Imperiex.

Enhanced lung capacity - Doomsday can breathe under water for long periods of time. Doomsday does not need food or water to survive. He also doesn’t need oxygen to survive.

Longevity - Doomsday can survive, live and sustain himself for centuries.

Power Absorption- In the New 52 version of Doomsday, he was granted the power of absorbing the energy from objects, and absorbing the life force from other living creatures. On more powerful beings such as superman, this process can take as long as 4 hours to completely drain him of his power.

Biology

Doomsday 2

Doomsday is humanoid, perhaps even human. He was the subject of a genetic experiment on Krypton, but it was stated by Bertron that he was not native of that planet.

He is covered in bony protrusions. Breaking these seems to cause him extreme pain. However, they are extremely difficult to break, and these bones get bigger and cover more parts of his body as he gets older. (The Death of Superman)

According to Bertron, Doomsday has no internal organs. When sliced open, his insides seem to be some sort of uniform, smooth, metal-like substance. (Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey)

Also, judging by the picture to the right, he doesn't seem to have any visible reproductive organs (Assuming his would be identifiable if he had them). (Doomsday: Year One)

Deaths

Main Article: List of Doomsday's Deaths

Doomsday has died numerous times over the course of his existence, each time becoming immune to the previous thing that killed him.

He died many times as a baby at the hands of Bertron, which was the process by which he was first created. He died once to The Radiant, once to Superman, once to the entropy at the end of the universe, once to Imperiex, and so on.

Biography (Comics)

Krypton

Doomsday attacked Krypton when Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van were young adults. Lara was a soldier at the time, and engaged the monster, but failed to stop it despite hitting it repeatedly with her lasers. While helping a civilian, she was nearly killed herself before General Zod intervened and saved them. Zod was able to seal the creature inside the Phantom Zone. (Batman/Superman: "Doomsday")

Years later, from inside the Zone, the creature was able to reach out and slash at Kara Zor-El with its claws, damaging her bed. (Batman/Superman: "Doomsday")

Death of Superman

The monster attacked Superman on Earth, beating him to death. However, the monster was returned to the Phantom Zone, and the creature escaped. (Action Comics: "At the End of Days")

This event has been mentioned a few times in the New 52, and it is implied to be essentially the original Death of Superman story. However, it is unclear how much of that story can be assumed to have taken place in the New 52.

Doomed

Doomsday began emerging from the Phantom Zone on Earth, where he was first encountered by Wonder Woman as she was rescuing a ship. She fought the monster, and it broke her arm before returning to the Phantom Zone. (Superman/Wonder Woman: "Whom Gods Destroy")

When at last the creature emerged again, it appeared on the polar ice cap, where it smashed the ice and dove into the water. There, it formed a cocoon with giant spikes, and it began to morph inside.

When it emerged, the creature was able to kill everything nearby without ever touching them. It seemed to be absorbing their life forces, growing larger as it did so. Wonder Woman and Steel attacked it, soon joined by Superman, but before Superman could engage the creature retreated into the Zone.

The next time Superman engaged Doomsday, he was committed to killing it despite his aversion to killing. He punched it into the air, flew with it to Venus, where he attacked it with his heat vision, seemingly putting it down. He then returned to Smallville, where Doomsday followed him and attacked again. In the ensuing fight, Superman ripped him in half.

Doomsday exploded into a shower of particulates, all of which were inhaled by Superman. Following that event, he became infected and began transforming into Doomsday himself. (Superman: "Doomed")

Doomsday Chained

Doomsday, dressed up and chained by the inhabitants of Catalan.

Thousands of years into Krypton's obscure past, long before the humanoid Kryptonian race managed to gain dominance over the planet, Doomsday was originally an infant humanoid, probably a Kryptonian; he was known at this point simply as baby. An alien scientist known as Bertron saw the environment of his home world. During this time, Krypton was a violent and harsh world equivalent of hell, where only the absolute strongest lifeforms could afford to survive. Because of this, Bertron was influenced to create the perfect creature that could be suitable for the Kryptonian environment and decided to perform experiments on a baby. Due to the cruel nature of the experiments, the baby evolved into a killing monster, with a hatred of all life. (Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey)

Doomsday Kills Superman

Doomsday and Superman deal a fatal blow to each other.

After a long period of dormancy, Doomsday awakened within his holding cell below the Earth and burrowed his way to the surface. He then started rampaging across the countryside, slowly making his way towards Metropolis.

Superman then had to fight the monster himself. The battle finally worked its way into Metropolis, where finally, the two beat each other to death. There was one final, cataclysmic blow which killed both combatants. (The Death of Superman)

Doomsday would survive the battle, however, to rampage through the universe for some time. ("The Return of Superman")

Biography (Animated Universe)

Animated Doomsday

Animated Doomsday.

In Superman: The Animated Series, and later in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, Doomsday's history is significantly different than that of the comics. We'll present this alternate biography.

Origins

Doomsday was created on Earth, by Project Cadmus, from a sample of Superman's genetic material and this make him an imperfect clone of Superman (similar to Bizarro), but his DNA was altered to make him a superior, then he was trained to hate Superman. When he became uncontrollable they try to dispose of him by putting him in a rocket and shoot him into space, but he was too strong and break his bond and struggle through the rocket, and came back to earth.

Battle with Superman

He eventually fought Superman, but was unable to kill him. After he was defeated, the Justice League tried to get answers from him, but he didn't say anything and the mind reading didn't work with him because his brain was altered to resist it. Superman told Doomsday that Cadmus manipulated him and they tried to kill him; Doomsday responded to this with "So I keep hearing" (a reference to the time Milo tried to use Doomsday to kill Amanda Waller by telling him the truth of his creation, but Doomsday only used Milo to free him and to get to Superman), Superman asked from who. All Doomsday said to Superman was "All you need to know is that I will get free and I will kill you. Superman decided to send Doomsday to the Phantom Zone to prevent him from causing any more harm. Doomsday's final words to Superman before he sent him to the Phantom Zone was "You'll wish you killed me.

Biography (Superman: Doomsday)

Doomsday in Superman Doomsday

Doomsday as he apears in Superman: Doomsday.

In the animated film Superman: Doomsday, Doomsday's story is a bit different, Doomsday was created to be the Ulitmate soldier, but it's creaters came to realize it couldn't distinguish between friend and foe, this meant that Doomsday would see every one as an enemy.

Discovery

The monster was discovered by LexCorp workers, locked in an alien vault, under a mountain in the United States. When the workers discovered the vault, they uncovered a holographic warning. However, they released Doomsday anyway, who killed them all and began rampaging across the country.

Battle with Superman

The monster battled with Superman throughout Metropolis, dealing significant damage to the city in the process. Superman finally ended the threat by flying the monster high into the atmosphere, and then slamming him into the ground, impacting with the force of a bomb. The blast killed both Superman and Doomsday.

Biography (Smallville)

Davis Bloome

Davis Bloome, the human form of Doomsday.

Doomsday's history in Smallville is significantly different than that in the comics, and as such we'll present this alternate biography.

Origins

Doomsday was created by General Zod and Faora out of genetic material.

Davis Bloome

He landed on Earth at the same time that Kal-El did, initially appearing as a mass of goop which formed into a human child.

He lived a human life under the name of Davis Bloome. He was bounced from orphanage to orphanage. He noticed that he was suffering from a series of strange blackouts.

Adult Life

Smallville Doomsday

Doomsday, as he appears in Smallville.

He got a job as a paramedic in Metropolis. There, he met Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen, and Chloe Sullivan. He quickly fell for Chloe, and was jealous of Jimmy. However, his blackouts increased in frequency.

Also, there had been a killer on the loose in Metropolis, who was causing damage. Davis found himself waking up, naked and covered in blood, at these crimes. He began to suspect that he was the killer.

Doomsday Emerges

Doomsday appeared at Chloe Sullivan's wedding with Jimmy Olsen. At the event, he kidnapped Chloe and brought her to the Fortress of Solitude, where her personality as Brainiac asserted herself.

Obsession with Chloe

As Davis' blackouts became worse and worse, he found that being around Chloe Sullivan was the only thing that would keep his darker side in check. After her marriage to Jimmy Olsen ended, the two became close. Finally, in an attempt to save Clark from being forced to banish Davis to the Phantom Zone, Chloe ran away with Davis.

Battle with the Red-Blue Blur

Clark and Chloe finally decided to separate Davis Bloome from his Doomsday persona using Black Kryptonite, which has the ability to split a Kryptonian into two. This effect worked, leaving Clark to battle and defeat the monster in Metropolis. Meanwhile, the human side of Davis killed Jimmy Olsen, having seen him kissing Chloe. Davis himself was then killed.

Other Doomsdays

On occasion, there have been others to assume the identity and biology of Doomsday, as well as copies of Doomsday.

Modern Age Continuity

Alternate Doomsdays

Black Zero, the Superboy of an alternate universe within Hypertime, gathered and imprisoned alternate versions of Doomsday from many other Hypertime universes. When Superboy freed them, Black Zero was forced to send them into Hypertime. (Superboy: "Hyper-Tension!")

Doomsday Clones

Darkseid had created an army of Doomsday clones, which he unleashed on the Amazons as a distraction, so that he could capture Supergirl. But these clones are not even near the strength of the real doomsday as they were hurt by spears and swords, this possibly because of the complicated DNA of the original Doomsday. They were destroyed by Supermans Heat vision. (Superman/Batman: "The Supergirl from Krypton")

Bizarro Doomsday

Main Article: Bizarro Doomsday

On Htrae, Bizarro had created a Bizarro version of Doomsday, who battled Superman.

Lil' Doomsday

Main Article: Lil' Doomsday

Mxyzptlk sent a group of representatives from a parallel dimension to meet with our familiar heroes. The only difference was that these heroes were much smaller and more innocent. A little version of Doomsday was among the villains sent this way.

All-American Boy

Main Article: All-American Boy

Amanda Waller had created a stockpile of Kryptonite, and a team called "Last Line", who were trained to stop Superman if he ever became a threat. As a last resort, they turned an American soldier, Joshua Walker, into a new Doomsday - using Kryptonite as a binding agent for Doomsday's DNA. The result was a monster just as unstoppable as the original, but with his bony protrusions made of Kryptonite. (Superman/Batman: "K")

All-Star Superman

Jimmy Olsen

In All Star Superman #7, Jimmy Olsen injected himself with the Doomsday serum, transforming himself temporarily into Doomsday.
